Florida Clean Boating Program

Florida's Water: Your Backyard. The State of Florida has 8,400 miles of shoreline, 7,000 lakes covering 3 million acres, and 51,000 miles of rivers, streams and creeks. Each day thousands of boaters take advantage of our waterways for transportation, commercial or recreational fishing, swimming, skiing, diving or cruising. Additionally, 80 percent of Florida's population lives on the coast and more move to it at a rate of 800 people per day. No matter where you stand in Florida, you can never be more than 75 miles from the water. We are a coastal state.

The Clean Boater Campaign is designed to educate Florida's boaters on how to stop pollution and maintain a clean boating environment. Clean Boating Habits booklets provide you with an in-depth factual overview of several areas providing facts, goals and actions you can take on such topics as hurricane preparations, petroleum control, boat cleaning, waste management, sewage and gray water management and the minimum required safety equipment for their vessels.
