The Jacksonville Marine Association was incorporated September, 1946. The purpose is to promote social activities and education between its members. To exchange ideas on promotion and sales of their products and services. To foster and promote boating on the St. John's River and its tributaries. To aid and assist in the proposal and adoption of suitable laws and regulations relating to boats and boating. To aid, assist or conduct displays of boats, equipment and allied products and services.
The Jacksonville Marine Association conducts two boat shows annually. Boat-A-Rama (February 7, 8, 9 and 10, 2008) and Jacksonville Fall Boat Show (August 10, 11 and 12, 2007). Both shows are held in the Prime Osborn Convention Center in Jacksonville.
The Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament (July 16-21, 2007) was founded by two of the Jacksonville Marine Association members. This tournament is celebrating its 27th year and is considered the largest Kingfish Tournament in the country. The tournament fishes 1,000 boats with prizes and cash exceeding $700,000.00. Sponsored this year by AT&T.
